Summertime ...

and the living is easy - sure. Since we sold the car, the pressure is off. But it is also hot. Sticky. Humid. Wonderful!

At the weekend we had some good times at two different events - both of which we reached by bicycle.

Celebrations of the 65th Korean Independence Day in Gibbons Park:

Willow trees in Gibbons Park along Thames River - looking green and healthy while the front lawns in residential areas are starting to brown with the drought.

Sun TaeKwonDo Demonstration.

Picnic area No. 2. Only one of many in this park: come and host your party here. First come first served.

BBQ Korean style: beef in thin slices.

Speeches: by the Consul General, the President of the Korean Canadian Society in London, Her Worship Mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best and other dignitaries. Singing of anthems,  the Independence Day Song, Three Cheers for Korean Independence. After the formal part of the celebrations everyone was invited for lunch.

A cool breeze blew through Gibbons Park. We stayed longer than anyone else and enjoyed the freshness.

The next day was hot again - as per usual. We cycled down to Springbank Gardens, to the new-ish Wonderland Gardens Bandshell, and had a lazy Sunday afternoon listening to Django Jazz.

Larry Smith's trio

The Mexican hacienda style takes a bit of getting used to - but then this is on Wonderland Road. There is certainly nothing wrong with shady Guy Lombardo Pavillion. The days are just packed!
