Dream House

I found it - my dream house. At least on the inside. On the outside it is one of those boxy new developments, 2x4 wood and plasterboard with a few bricks on the outside for show. Whenever I see these brand new subdivisions in pink or baby blue insulation I have to hum Little Boxes by Marvina Reynolds, the Pete Seger version. But I cannot help it, this show home would have to be mine, if I stayed here longer.

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky-tacky,
Little boxes, little boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All go to the university,
And they all get put in boxes,
Little boxes, all the same.
And there's doctors and there's lawyers
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
And they all look just the same.

The Manchester on 116 Cherrywood Trail for a mere $360 k in the exhibited state had what I seem to like most in living spaces: high ceilings, a wide entrance hall, a light and airy library room, a live-in kitchen with fireplace and hardwood flooring. Oh - I am so predictable. Just right for one of these little boxes.

This could be clad in bookshelves from floor to ceiling!
