Tai Chi - Wu style 吴式

at the Museum. I missed the first two meetings, but sneaked into their last session to try it out. We learned some basics about Tai Chi and proceeded to warming up exercises and deep breathing. The instructors from the Chinese Canadian National Council then showed us the first 20 or so forms in their routine. Very impressive it was - and I think it is a martial art I could try out a bit more.

Tai Chi not only keeps you active, it also strengthens the muscles and bones in your lower body, warms you up really quickly and has no impact on your joints nor jerky movements. The breathing must be good for your body, and might even stimulate all those inner organs.

My friend and I then explored the culinary delights of Costco for lunch and, shortly afterwards, A. and I set off to Westmount Library to view one of their international films. It turned out that no-one else had turned up for this Saturday's screening - thus I had the projection equipment all to myself. I re-viewed some of the grander scenes of The Bucket List, a DVD we had enjoyed at home on the small screen. While I am at the topic of films, I also really like Thank You For Smoking, which we watched a few days ago. The weather conditions on Saturday were so hot and humid, with a few heavy showers thrown in for good measure, that escaping to all these activities was the only sensible thing to do.
